I came into music teaching coming from an unconventional background, having spent 5 years as a performer on cruise ships. However, I have managed to acquire 9 years of school experience as a teaching assistant, cover supervisor and unqualified/qualified teacher and peripatetic music teacher.

My vision of music education has been shaped by my history and this is why I feel passionate about engaging teenagers from a variety of backgrounds in music.

 

I have deliberately decided not to give my blog a name at this time, as I know it will be adapting and changing rapidly over the next four years.

I have recently finished my MA in education and have decided to continue my research and study on the EdD doctoral course at Portsmouth University.

I intend to use this blog to document my study journey, hopefully helping others along the way and developing as a practitioner through reflection and a deeper understanding of the music curriculum within secondary schools.
